Motorist charged in Pa hit-and-run accident that killed Kristy L. Bender

A 74-year-old Gilbertsville woman was charged in a hit-and-run car accident on April 27 that claimed the life of Kristy L. Bender, 26, of Royersford.
Police say driver Patricia Maurer struck a pedestrian, identified as Bender, who was walking along the 1200 block of South Township Line Road in Upper Providence, according to news reports. Witnesses told police the driver did not stop after hitting the pedestrian, who was struck so hard she was thrown to the side of the road. Bender was walking home from her job at Kohl’s, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Auburn hit-and-run accident results in severe damages to New York father

An Auburn man was seriously injured in a hit-and-run accident on Saturday, May 14, and his family is hoping someone will come forward with information about the hit-and-run driver.
Mark Sokernyk, 37, is still in critical condition, according to a news report (WSYR-TV). He was struck while riding a Razor-type scooter, which his family said was a gift for his 3-year-old son.
The victim’s mother, Marie Sokernyk, told WSYR that Mark’s little boy misses his dad. “He asks for him all the time, and we just have to keep telling him he will be back soon.”

A truck driver was killed and dozens of passengers were injured in a fiery Chicago train accident on Friday, May 13, involving a Metra commuter train and a dump truck.
The train, bound for Chicago at the height of the morning commute, collided at 50 mph with a dump truck in the suburb of Mount Prospect, causing a derailment and fire. According to Fox News Chicago, a motorist who witnessed the accident said the truck turned without warning into the train’s path, going around gates that were down to stop traffic.

A passenger died in a car accident in Salem Township, Mercer County, on May 11, after he was partly ejected from the vehicle and hit a tree, according to police. The driver faces several charges in connection with the Pennsylvania car accident, according to various reports.
